I am interested in sponsoring my fiance from the US into Canada. I don't quite know how to go about this, and do we need to get married beforehand, or is there another way? I have looked into sponsorship and permanent residence status. This looks like the total application time would be long, is there a general length of time that this tends to take in total? I'm worried we're going to have to be married for quite some time before we're able to live together.
You can sponsor your spouse before getting married . Usually it doesn't take more than 6 months . You may have to provide all the proof for your relationship .
What type of sponsorship does this fall under? Spouse still? we don't qualify for cohabitation.. and conjugal confused me by saying that it wasn't an option if you plan on getting married... so that leaves spouse. Proof is easy, that's not a problem.
HI, I SPONSORED MY WIFE TO COME TO CANADA,BUT REFUSED BY VISA OFFICER DUE TO LACK OF ENOUGH INFORMATION. LAST WEEK I ATTENDED IN ADR UNFORMAL MEETING STILL FAIL AND MUSH WAIT UNTIL HEARING WHICH FALLS THE NEXT TEN MONTHS. MY QUESTION IS : WHICH WAY IS BETTER FOR ME WETHER I REAPPLY AGAIN ?? OR WAITING FOR HEARING?? SECOND QUESTION IS : IF FAIL AGAIN IN HEARING, CAN I APPLY AGAIN ??
FAMILY TO CANADA If you are a citizen or permanent resident of Canada, you must apply to sponsor them. Marriage certificate issued by the civil authority of the country where the marriage took place. You are over 18 years of age. You are not receiving any social assistance. You are not bankrupt. You are not in prison. ~Document~ Birth certificate. Marriage certificate. Valid passport . police certificate. medical certificate.
These are the requirements stated on govt site, but I have seen cases pending for 2/3 years and run into many problems with immigration. Really depends upon the visa officer who approves your spouse's visa. Some came here within 3/4 months and some took 3 years. For my spouse, they took like 4 years after going through everything they had to obstruct. So I suggest you better have your spouse here on any visa, get married here..Apply for status change. Then evenif immigration takes forever for approval, atleast your spouse will be here with you. :-) Hope this helps .. thanks,
If you are permanent resident of Canada and above 18 years of age. you can sponsor your family members to Canada. You can sponsor your spouse , dependent children , Adopted children , your parents or grandparent. Form for sponsoring your spouse , dependent children , Adopted children includes three parts. The sponsoring application.i.e. The forms that are required to be filled by sponsor. The application form for permanent resident i.e.This forms(immigration form) is to be filled by the family member. The region specific forms.
At present time, there is no fiance program that you can use for your purposes. You may sponsor your fiance as a conjugal partner or common-law spouse. Once married, you can also sponsor your spouse from abroad or from within Canada. You would have to collect all the necessary forms and supporting documents to satisfy immigration and sponsorship requirements. In addition, to prove your case, you are required to convince immigration authorities that your conjugal relationship or marriage is genuine.
